Hello readers,

It has been a while since we gave you an update on Congress, since the 119th session just started last week. Aside from the passing of H.R. 29: The Laken Riley Act, which, according to the Congressional Research Service, “requires the Department of Homeland Security to detain certain non-U.S. nationals who have been arrested for burglary, theft, larceny, or shoplifting” and “authorizes states to sue the federal government for decisions or alleged failures related to immigration enforcement,” there hasn’t been any legislative activity [10].

To hold you over, we have gathered some statistical data regarding the 119th Congress into a mini-digest, as well as some presidential news and events.
